Description
New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is seeking a talented and entrepreneurial gift officer to join our major giving team. The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is responsible for securing funds for the organization by cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a group of assigned donors and prospects. The MGO will work to retain and upgrade a caseload of high-end annual fund donors, as well as qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of principal donors and prospects for 5-6 figure gifts. The MGO develops and implements donor engagement and stewardship plans; collaborates with staff to identify needs and giving opportunities; develops and writes case materials, solicitation letters, proposals, donor reports, and other correspondence; and leads and participates in program planning and coordination of special donor-related events. The MGO reports to the Director of Major and Planned Gifts and is a member of the Major Gifts department, which also includes a Mid-level giving officer and a Development Associate. NHPR's high-end annual giving program - the Leadership Circle - consists of about 525 donors. NHPR has a total donor base of 23,000, more than half of whom are monthly sustaining donors.
This is a hybrid eligible role that is based in Concord, NH.
Key Responsibilities:
- Qualify, renew and steward a caseload of donors in the Leadership Circle using mail, phone, email and in-person solicitation to achieve annual unrestricted revenue goals;
- Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of approximately 100 donors and prospects capable of 5-figure or more gifts, achieving annual revenue goals for restricted and directed gifts and/or estate gifts;
- Identify and qualify principal donor prospects from among the pool of membership and Leadership Circle donors;
- Set and implement a strategic plan for each principal portfolio donor and prospect utilizing prescribed methodology for the department;
- Work with Director, Major and Planned Giving and the Vice President, Development to develop the annual major giving program and execute according to plans;
- Conduct prospect research as needed, using donor database and other resources;
- Maintain accurate donor records and record actions/moves management in database;
- Support the CEO, Board members, volunteers and content/programming staff in preparing for cultivation, stewardship and solicitation opportunities - both one-on-one meetings and events;
- Produce reports and analyses of major donor program that reflect caseload activity and performance;
- Plan and execute, or participate in, events related to donor cultivation and stewardship;
- In collaboration with major gift colleagues and other staff, develop and produce donor solicitation, renewal and acknowledgment letters and other materials tailored to individual donors;
- Collaborate with colleagues on the major gifts team and throughout the organization to meet overall organizational revenue and customer service goals;
- Maintain knowledge of station priorities and activities;
- Travel throughout the state in order to cultivate donors and prospects;
- Participate in on-air fundraising campaigns as required; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
We're looking for someone with...
- Minimum of two years' major gifts experience or comparable experience in generating revenue through relationships;
- Demonstrated success in qualifying donors and soliciting gifts of five-figures or more;
- Adheres to Association of Fundraising Professionals ethical standards;
- Outstanding interpersonal and oral and written communication skills;
- Familiarity with multi-channel fundraising techniques;
- Ability to analyze and interpret data;
- Strong customer service orientation;
- Detail oriented and performs work with accuracy, efficiency and excellence;
- Self-motivated and strong desire to achieve goals;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively;
- Proficient in MS Office programs and experience using donor databases (Raiser's Edge or similar software);
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record required; and
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
